Well, not new mum… but mum who recently had a baby and is learning how to parent all over again with two little rascals instead of one!
I just thought I’d share with you some of my favourite things for me that I’ve discovered in the last few weeks. It’s so easy to forget about yourself when you’re a mum and the focus is all on the children but these are just a few things that have helped to make me feel special, pampered, organised or even just sane!
Aldi Scented Candles
I love a good scented candle, especially at this time of the year. Cheap as chips (and available in the next aisle along) these candles look and smell a lot more expensive than they are. My favourite is no.2 Blackberry Bay and I’m really enjoying sitting down in the evening when Harry is in bed and relaxing in front of the telly or with a good book and this burning in the background. It makes the house smell amazing and at just under £4 ish there’s no excuse not to treat yourself to one!
Malée Moisturising Oil
This makes my skin feel amazing. I’ve been using it all over, particularly on my arms and belly and it just feels lovely. It smells beautiful, soaks nicely into the skin and is the perfect excuse to hide in the bathroom for an extra 5 minutes. If you want to try it for yourself you can find the oil here.
Lansinoh breast pads
A practical one but something that I couldn’t live without at the moment! Leaky boobs are not a good look! These are by far the best breast pads I’ve found, the only ones that avoid the dreaded wet patches. You can buy them here.
Pick n Mix
Specifically the tubs you can get from Morrisons or Tesco! I’ve been going through a large tub of this a week since Megan was born. I really need to stop or I’ll be the size of a house by Christmas!
I’ve borrowed this from a friend and it’s an absolute life saver! I don’t know how I would’ve survived the past month without it. I didn’t wear Harry until he was much older and we got the Tula but I’m so glad I’ve started early with Megan. She is so content and relaxed in there and it means I can chase after Harry, do chores or get out and about without needing an expensive bulky travel system. Just pop Megan in the sling, Harry in the buggy and off we go!
Aveeno hand cream
With two children in nappies I am washing my hands a lot at the moment and my hands are getting really dry. This moisturiser has helped to keep them soft. It smells lovely and is lovely to apply, it soaks in quickly too which is handy when I have my hands full with two little monsters! You can find the daily moisturising cream that I use here.
Primark shirt dresses
I can see myself buying more of there on payday!! They are really comfy, easy to feed in and flattering over those post baby lumps and bumps!
Weekly Planner Pad
You can get these from most supermarkets and they are really inexpensive. This far into the year I refused to get a calendar but was struggling without one. This is great because it gives me flexibility to use for lots of different purposes. I have a meal plan, what we’re doing in the week, blog plans… everything all on these pinned on my fridge. It’s working well for me at the moment as I don’t have the time to do my bullet journal right now either.
