I have always been a fan of milestone cards. I wanted some for Harry when he was a baby but the day I was planning to go to the shop and get some was the day I went into labour. I never did end up going and getting some that day and being a new mum in a sleepless haze full of nappies and milk, I never got round to it in the weeks that followed. Since then I have purchased milestone cards for friends who have had babies and enjoyed watching them use them to mark those special moments.
As cute as the normal milestone cards are I would often joke with friends about the cards that should’ve been included but weren’t. Things such as, ‘last night I kept Mummy and Daddy up all night’ or ‘today mummy got to have a hot brew’ seemed like such huge milestones to us and there was never a cute card to celebrate the moment.
When I first saw the ‘alternative’ milestone cards from Pudding and Chops I fell in love with them instantly. They were perfect! Witty, real and just the thing to pick you up and make you smile during those challenging parenting moments. I was sent some of the new mummy cards (Why should the babies get all the fun?) ready for when baby arrives but I’ve had lots of fun using them already whilst raising my toddler.
These are two of my favourite cards which I feel would sum up most days for me as a parent, they live stuck to the fridge at the moment to give me a chuckle and remind me that I will survive the day and bedtime will come eventually! Don’t get me wrong, I love my child more than life itself but lets be honest, it’s exhausting running around after a toddler all day and we all check the clock to see how far away bedtime is sometimes.
Sometimes, as a parent, we feel like we have achieved nothing in a day and can sometimes feel like a failure because we haven’t done anything more remarkable than get a load of washing done and keep the kids alive for the day. But we need reminding sometimes that things like this are remarkable and getting anything done with a small child in tow is an achievement worth celebrating. These cards help me to remember that and tackle my days with a smile and a sense of humour.
To win your own pack of either pregnancy, new baby or new mum milestone cards from Pudding and Chops all you have to do is like the competition post on our Facebook page, comment #win and tag a friend who you think may like to enter too in the comments. A winner will be picked at random on Saturday 13th May and announced on our Facebook page.

Good luck everyone!
