This is a recipe from the fantastic Baby Led Weaning Cookbook by Gill Rapley. It is a brilliant book for recipes whether you are following baby led weaning or not!
Ingredients:
- Porridge oats
- Whole milk
- Mixed dried fruit (Raisins or sultanas work just as well on their own)
(However many spoonfuls of porridge oats you use, use the same of milk. 2 or 3 is usually plenty for one baby!)
Method:
- Soak the porridge oats in the milk until you have a mushy mixture.
- Mix in the dried fruit and mould into a square shape.
- Cook in the microwave for 2 minutes.
- Cut into finger shapes whilst still hot.
- Leave to cool and serve as a delicious breakfast or snack!
Can you freeze these?
Yes you can. 🙂
can you add mashed up fruit to them?
Yes you can, I’d just adjust the amount of milk/oats to balance this out and make sure the mixture isn’t too wet.
Can you do these in a pot or oven?
You could do them in the oven, press the mixture into a lined baking tray and bake until cooked.
Can I soak them overnight? Also can I use formula milk?
I can’t see why not if you want to 🙂
Can i use ready brek? Xx
If you want to 🙂
What age are these suitable for?
6 months onwards x
Can i keep them in the fridge when they have cooled
Yes 🙂
