I’ve been really enjoying making new snacks for Harry recently and my secret mission at the moment is to try and keep him fuller for longer! He seems to be constantly hungry at the moment and always asking for more snacks! I’ve decided to try and add more protein more protein to see if it helps and these are a way of doing that whilst letting Harry think he is getting a sweet ‘naughty’ treat!
These bites are the same sort of consistency as a muffin crossed with a cookie (if that makes any sense!) so are probably best for babies/toddlers who are confident with more solid finger foods.
Ingredients
As with my last recipe I’m going to refer to the measurements as ‘cups’. I’m using this term loosely though and as long as the proportions are the same then you can use any cup/bowl/spoon you like to measure with!
- 1 cup of porridge oats
- 1 cup of ground almonds
- 1 cup of smooth peanut butter
- 1 cup of strawberries
Method
- Put all of the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
- Roll the mixture into ball shapes, about a dessertspoonful each makes a nice size for toddlers.
- Place the balls on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180°c for 15 minutes, until golden.
My kid doesn’t like strawberries, can I make these with just the other ingredients – oats, peanut butter and almonds ? Will the baking time change ?
I want to know this too!
Do you think these would freeze?
I haven’t tried it yet but I can’t see why not!
Can’t wait to try these, how long would they keep for?
They will keep for up to a week in the fridge.
Did you use unsalted or salted peanut butter?
Unsalted if possible 🙂
Could you use raspberries with these aswell i have some left over
Of course you could! Great idea 🙂
Did u put these in a muffin pan or cookie sheet tray?
Just on a flat baking tray 🙂
My guy loved these but they are really crumbly! Also, it was so thick it nearly burned out my blender motor. Any suggestions for next time? Thanks!
