Ingredients:
2 chicken breasts, diced
½ a cup of cauliflower
½ a cup chickpeas
1 cup of passata
1 crushed clove of garlic
½ tsp turmeric
1 tbsp tikka masala powder (curry powder is fine too!)
4 tbsp full fat natural yogurt.
Oil or cooking spray for cooking
Method:
- Cut the chicken into bite size pieces and cook in the oil and garlic in a pan.
- Add the garlic, turmeric and tikka masala powder to the pan. Cook for 1 minute then add the passata, cauliflower and chickpeas and leave to simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
- Mix in the yogurt into the curry. I find it best to spoon some of the sauce out and add the yogurt to that, mixing well, before adding the sauce/yogurt mix back to the pan. Adding the yogurt this way helps to avoid the curry sauce curdling.
- Gently re heat the curry and serve with whatever accompaniment you like! Favourites here are rice, naan bread, sugar snap peas, pita bread or salad!
This recipe has been written for 2 adults and 1 baby, it can easily be adapted to feed more though and can be frozen if you have some left over! You can add whatever vegetables you like to this curry and can easily make it suitable for vegetarians by just leaving the chicken out! Harry likes spicy food so loves this, you could always change how much tikka powder you add to suit your tastes though!
Tried this recipe this evening with a few minor changes just going with what we had in cupboards. Tandoori spice instead of tikka and added onions as well – yummy! A hit for 10.5 month and parents. Thanks for the recipe share 🙂

Hi this looks good. Just wondering, at what age are you introducing the masalas? I believe most of the pre packaged masalas have salt added to them.
We don’t use any pre packaged curry sauces as you are right, many do have a lot of salt in. That’s why we make our own. Herbs and spices are fine for baby and I don’t add any salt so it’s all down to their individual taste as to when you choose to give it. Harry has had this curry (using this recipe) since he was 6 months old 🙂

Hi! My dish didn’t end up with that much gravy in the end, not sure what I did wrong along the way. As a result it’s quite dry. Is there a way to fix this? Like a basic gravy solution I can add to the main dish instead of chucking away my entire batch?

Hi! Would you give this a quick whizz in the blender before giving to a 7mo? Im confused by weaning and not sure what my baby can handle. He has lumpy foods and soft fruit and veg as finger food. I just dont know when to introduce meat as a non blended food. Apologies for the silly question!

I never blitzed Harry’s food in the blender at that age but he went straight to solids so was used to lumps from the start. If baby is used to puree then you could definitely blend this to make it easier for him.

You can serve without yes, it just won’t be creamy but will still taste nice x
