Reasons why I haven’t been to weigh in this week… or for the past 4 weeks

I was so psyched up to get back into Slimming World and go to weigh in tonight.  Then I realised.  It’s been 4 weeks since my last weigh in.  2 I booked as holidays but 2 I was ill and didn’t text so will be charged for.  I’ve been off plan for the whole month I’ve not been to group and thought I’d share with you my very valid reasons why.

Spiced raisin porridge bread

This spiced raisin porridge bread recipe came from another one of Harry and my baking mornings.  We found a recipe for porridge bread in the My Fussy Eater cookbook and decided to give it a go.  We’ve made a few recipes from this book now and they are all really easy and tasty.  I’ll insert a video of Harry making another recipe from it at the bottom of this page.  Literally recipes so easy to follow that a toddler can do it!

Cowboy Hotpot

This hearty cowboy hotpot is great for those cold days when you want something warm and filling to eat.  It’s perfect for the whole family and really easy to make. It’s packed full of healthy goodness with lots of veggies, I like to cut them big so that my 7 month old can pick them up easily and my fussy husband can pick the onions out of his.  You can cut them smaller if you prefer though.

Slimming world update, meal plan and Alistair’s observations on how I’m doing

Last week was a bad weigh in for me.  I gained 4lbs and was absolutely gutted.  I’ll be honest, it really knocked me and I had a bit of a wobble about carrying on.  I felt unmotivated and fed up.  With Easter round the corner I just wanted to eat all the chocolate and forget about losing weight.

Slimming World Chocolate Cheesecake

I’m back on it this week at Slimming World and feeling positive about losing the weight I gained last week.  I’m still battling the sweet cravings though and am fighting against the urge to fall back on my old ways of, ‘if you can’t have sleep have sugar.’  Today I had terrible chocolate cravings but didn’t want to fall at the first hurdle.  I decided to get creative and make some 1 syn cheesecakes instead.  They were tasty, not quite a family sized bar of galaxy caramel but they definitely curbed the sweet cravings.  They worked out at 1 syn each but the recipe makes 2… and I ate them both!

How is it even possible to gain this much in one week?! Slimming World Update and Meal Plan

I’ll be honest I may have had a little cry when I got home from weigh in tonight.  I knew I’d been naughty, I’d given myself the week off and let myself eat and drink whatever I wanted.  I expected a gain and was prepared for it.  I wasn’t prepared for how much though!

1 syn Curly Wurly brownies

For Valentine’s day in the past we have always been big fans of the Marks and Spencer’s meal deal.  This year however, I am on Slimming World and slowly but surely I’m losing weight and getting healthier.  This year I’ve decided to make a Slimming World friendly meal for Valentine’s day.  I still wanted a dessert that tastes like a naughty treat and was really excited when I found out you can make 1 syn brownies! They taste as good as they look and you’d never guess they are so low in syns!

Our favourite meals from last week and our meal plan for this week

I’ve been back on Slimming World for a week now and so far I’ve lost  2lbs.  Not loads but a loss and its a step in the right direction.   I find doing a meal plan really helped to keep me focused and helped me to make good choices.  It also helped me to choose meals that we would all enjoy as a family rather than rushing at the last minute and cooking two meals, one for Harry and another for Alistair and I.  This week I’m going to increase the amount of ‘speed’ food that I’m eating.  Harry loves veggies and fruit so this will be a hit with him too I’m sure!
