35 weeks pregnant: Considering new options

I went to see the midwife last week and ended up seeing a lady I hadn’t before.  She was absolutely lovely and I loved hearing baby’s heartbeat again but she mentioned that she had some concerns about baby’s position.

She said that baby is breech and has been for a while now, according to my notes.  She said that if baby hasn’t turned by my next appointment they will refer me to a consultant and for a scan, with the view to potentially turning the baby via ECV or booking me in for a planned c section.

I was quite surprised at how seriously she seemed to be talking about it as surely there’s plenty of time for baby to turn yet?

I put a post up on my Facebook page after the appointment and had such an amazing response from people with positive stories about breech babies who have turned last minute or who have had successful EVC’s or beautiful c section births so thank you so much to everyone for that.  I’ve been trying some of the positions from the Spinning Babies website that a lot of you recommended so fingers crossed that tomorrow when I have my next appointment baby will be head down and behaving herself!

I hadn’t even considered the option of needing a c section before that appointment and it was quite a shock to think that I may not get the natural birth I want.  There’s still time yet and who knows, I may even still get my home birth, but this has opened my eyes to the fact that, when it comes to labour and birth, you just can’t predict what will happen!

The nesting urge has continued this week and is starting to do my head in!   I just can’t sit still!  That’s why my pregnancy updates have been late recently because I’ve been using nap times to clean like a maniac!  I’ve finally washed baby’s newborn vests and babygrows which makes me really happy, there’s nothing like the feeling of your baby wiggling in your tummy while you watch their clothes sway in the breeze on the washing line outside.  I’ve also decorated Harry’s bedroom and the kitchen is looking set to be finished before baby arrives thanks to my amazing parents. (We started it months ago!)

What’s being 35 weeks pregnant like?

How far along? 35 and 2 days

How big is baby? Baby is approximately the same size as a honeydew melon.

Weight gain/loss: I’ve now gained 9lbs since my booking weight so I’m about 3lbs above my pre pregnancy weight!

Maternity clothes?  The lack of sunshine is really winding me up!  My maternity jeans are getting less comfortable and I just want to wear floaty dresses!

Stretch marks? Not yet.

Sleep: I miss sleeping through the night!  I’m averaging 4 toilet trips a night at the moment and waking up because of my PGP too.  Guess this is all just preparing me for long nights up with a newborn!

Best moment this week: Decorating Harry’s bedroom and ticking another chore off my list.

Movement: She’s still pretty wriggly.

Food cravings: I’m still craving milk!

Sickness: I was sick this morning so think maybe I overdid it yesterday.  Generally I’m doing a lot better than I have been though.

Belly Button in or out? It’s flat.

Wedding rings on or off? Off. It still fits but it’s very snug so I figured it was better to take it off now rather than have it cut off later!

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Lots of ups and downs this week.  Generally I’m happy but I seem to start crying at the drop of a hat.
