27 Weeks Pregnant: Pregnancy update and baby girl’s clothes haul!

The weeks seem to be flying by at the moment and I cant believe I’m now 27 weeks pregnant.  This week has been really busy but amazing and I’m feeling really positive at the moment.  I saw my doctor last week and have been given additional anti sickness medication which seem to be making a positive impact on my day to day life which is amazing.  Fingers crossed I’m over the worst of it and will be able to enjoy my 3rd trimester.

This weekend Harry turned 2 and my best friend got married so we have been really busy partying, it’s nice to slow down again today and just relax at home with my family.

Newborn clothes haul

Anyone who has followed my blog for a while will know that we live on a pretty tight budget.  I chose to dramatically reduce my working hours when I became a mother and because of this we have a strict budget that we have to live by.  I wouldn’t change this for the world and the time I get with my son is priceless but it does mean that we have to think carefully about what we spend on new things for baby and we need to buy what we need rather than going over the top like I did with Harry.  We are pretty much sorted for newborn clothes now (minus a few pairs of tights and a few tops) so I thought I’d share with you what we’ve got!

Gender reveal clothes

When we found out that our little baby was a girl we went out to buy her first items of clothes.  We got this little dress from Next that was only £7.50 and a ‘little sister’ vest that we just couldn’t resist from Mothercare.  I think it was about £5.  Baby is due in September so I thought this dress and some little tights would be perfect for meeting her friends and family in during the weeks after she’s born.

TU Sleepsuits and vests

When Harry was born we got so many little outfits for him, he hardly wore any and lived in sleepsuits, especially during the first month after he was born.  This time I’m buying fewer outfits and more sleepsuits.  I couldn’t resist these from TU at Sainsburys, they are so cute and such good value.

Gifts

A few weeks ago I went round to visit a friend for a coffee.  She’s so sweet and thoughtful and had got baby girl these beautiful sleepsuits from Next. They are just gorgeous and I particularly like the green one with the animals on!  Too cute!

Last week I received a mystery parcel in the post.  When I opened it I found these beautiful clothes from Boy and Bird.  They’re handmade and have the coolest prints on them!  If you haven’t heard of them before you really need to check out their Etsy store and Instagram!  So many beautiful items and made by the loveliest lady!

Second hand

We found these beautiful sleepsuits at a carboot sale.  They were 50p each and are good as new.  All 3 are originally from Next and are super soft so perfect for our newborn princess.  Some people don’t like the idea of second hand clothes for their baby but I’m all for it!  Newborn clothes are often only used a handful of times and it’s such a shame to see them go to waste after that!

These beautiful clothes were found in a charity shop by my mother in law.  They are so pretty and I’m over the moon with them, particularly the little dusky pink dress! So pretty!

Hand me downs

These are a few bits that were Harry’s.  We’ve kept lots of his baby clothes and things like vests etc. will definitely be used by baby. She will be wearing blue sleepsuits with cars on and bright dinosaur prints because they’re cool and she will be too! I thought I’d show you these because I think they are perfect ‘unisex’ pieces that I’m really excited about dressing our little girl in.

These little cardigans were also Harry’s.  He had loads, lovingly made for him by his great grandparents and other family members.  The June Harry was born it was ridiculously hot so he had grown out of most of these before he had chance to wear them.  I’m really hoping that our little girl can get some use out of them as they are far too beautiful to go to waste.  I’m such a big fan of handmade clothes for babies, there’s something that feels so special about dressing your baby in something that was made with such love and care.

Pregnancy Quiz

How far along? 27 weeks

How big is baby? Baby is the same size as a cauliflower.

Weight gain/loss: I’m not sure but I think I’ve gained a few pounds this week.

Maternity clothes?  I’ve started wearing my maternity tops now, they’re still a bit big but they’re comfy!  My favourite item of maternity clothes has to be my dress that I’m wearing in my bump pictures.  I got it from Seraphine and wore it as a bridesmaids dress on Saturday.  It is such lovely quality and made me feel really special!

Stretch marks? None yet.

Sleep: I’ve been sleeping quite well this week but still feel more tired than ever!

Best moment this week: Harry’s 2nd birthday party and being a bridesmaid at my best friend’s wedding, walking down the aisle while my little girl wriggled away!

Movement: I went to the hospital earlier this week with reduced movements.  It turns out that she had just moved into a different position and was hiding behind my placenta hence why I couldn’t feel her.  Since then she’s had wriggly days and not so wriggly days.

Food cravings: Dare I say it, I’ve been eating fairly normally this week!

Sickness: I’ve had a good week this week.  I’ve gone 4 whole days without being sick and am soooo hopeful that this may be the start of enjoying pregnancy!

Belly Button in or out? It’s pretty flat at the moment.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!

Weekly Wisdom: Be happy and cherish every moment.

Milestones: Harry turned 2 and bump and I have officially entered the 3rd trimester!
