13 Week pregnancy update

You may be wondering where my 12 week update was…

After a few weeks of dates changing and being moved forwards and backwards we finally have our official due date.  I had my 12 week scan today and it showed that I am actually 13 weeks pregnant and due on 11th September.  From now on I will be posting pregnancy updates every Monday, when I enter a new week of pregnancy.

13 week scan

The scan was amazing, much clearer than Harry’s 12 week scan.  Baby was extremely wriggly and it took a while to get all of the measurements they needed (which was quite nice as we got to see our beautiful baby for a bit longer!) I was amazed at how long baby’s legs were and how clear the fingers and facial features were already.  Harry came with us and was good as gold, he keeps pointing to his tummy and saying baby at the moment which is so cute.  I still don’t think he really understands what’s going on yet though.

Morning sickness

My sickness is back and worse than ever.  The tablets that were helping have now stopped so I think a trip back to the doctors will be needed if things don’t improve.  Last time my sickness was never this bad and ended at about 14 weeks.  I’m really hoping that this ends soon as it’s making me miserable and making the simplest tasks difficult.

Harry had a sickness bug this weekend.  Usually I’m fine with things like sick but this time I was a mess, heaving in the corner while Alistair looked after Harry and cleaned up.  Please send positive vibes my way that things improve soon.

Weekly quiz

How far along? 13 weeks

How big is baby? Baby is the same size as a peach!

Total weight gain/loss: I was weighed today at my scan appointment and weigh exactly the same as I did at my booking appointment.

Maternity clothes? I’m still wearing maternity leggings a lot as they are comfier than things that sit across my waist.

Stretch marks? Nope but I’ve finally started using bio oil on my belly. I’m not sure if it works or not but it smells and feels nice.

Sleep: I’m still really tired.  My sickness is back and worse than ever so I’m struggling to keep food down which is making me tired.  Harry is being unpredictable with his naps at the moment and missing out on that few hours of quiet time is really taking it’s toll!

Best moment this week: Our scan! Baby was so wriggly and it took a while to catch him/her in the right position to find the measurements they needed.  It meant we got to see our little wriggle bum for a bit longer though so that was nice.

Have you told family and friends: Yep!

Movement: None felt but lots seen today at the scan!

Food cravings: No real cravings this week.  I’m just eating what I fancy when I feel like I can.

Sickness: My sickness is back and worse than ever.  Today I’ve brought everything I’ve eaten back up.  It’s really getting me down and I’m struggling to cope with looking after Harry and being a working mum again.  I hope that this passes soon. I’m fed up of feeling so useless.  I’ve also got burst blood vessels all over my face from being sick so much which is really affecting my confidence.

Have you started to show yet: Yep.  There’s a definite little round belly there.  It’s only small and probably looks like I’ve eaten too much cake to people who don’t know but I can definitely see it.

Gender prediction: The baby looked a lot like Harry at his 20 week scan so I’m veering towards it being a boy this week.

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On, last time I had to take my wedding ring off at around 34 weeks I think.

Happy or Moody most of the time: I’m feeling quite down this week, the sickness really does have a huge impact on my mood and is getting me down a lot.

Weekly Wisdom: Do your pelvic floor exercises.  The only thing worse than regular vomiting is regular peeing yourself whilst you vomit.

Milestones: 13 week scan!

  1. Definitely a bump. Congrats. Wow what a great scan pic. I don’t remember ours being that good at the same time along. September is a good month as they will be the oldest at school and have the most time being a kid before school
