10 Weeks Pregnant

This is my first ever pregnancy update on my blog! eek! I am now 10 weeks pregnant according to the scan I had but this could change when I go for my 12 week scan in a few weeks time.  I still don’t quite understand how that works as when I figured it out using my dates I was a few weeks further along than that but hey, it gives me longer to enjoy my pregnancy.  I’ve got a little questionnaire that I will fill out each week.  I didn’t do anything like this with Harry and I feel like once this baby is here our family will be complete so I want to cherish every moment of my pregnancy this time round!

Weekly pregnancy quiz: 10 weeks

How far along? 10 weeks 1 day
How big is baby? Baby is the same size as a prune! Find our tasty prune cookie recipe here!
Total weight gain/loss: Nothing lost or gained yet.
Maternity clothes? Not yet! It’s far too early!  I have got them out of the loft ready to sort through though.  I’m lucky that I will be pregnant at a similar time of the year to last time so I should be able to reuse my maternity clothes and avoid needing new things!

Stretch marks? Nope! Still a few tiny ones left over from when I was pregnant with Harry though, right at the bottom of my tummy.  They are barely noticeable but I’m sure that will change!  I’m getting started on the bio oil soon!

Sleep: I’ve been getting up once or twice in the night to go to the toilet which has been annoying.  I’m so tired though that I have been going to bed at 9pm every night and falling asleep very quickly.  I’m really lucky too that Harry sleeps really well and doesn’t get up until 6am most mornings.

Best moment this week: Feeling myself again.  After a few really rough weeks of feeling awful and feeling very sorry for myself I finally feel good again.  My sickness has stopped, I feel a lot less anxious and feel like I’m managing to fulfill my responsibilities as a working mother again.  I’ll be honest, I had some pretty dark moments during the worst of my sickness where I was unable to do much of anything and spent a lot of time crying hysterically at the doctors.  I was terrified that it wouldn’t improve and I questioned if I could put myself through 9 months like that but thanks to my amazing family and a very supportive doctor who worked with me to prescribe medication to stop the sickness, I am in a much better place now.

Have you told family and friends: Yes! After our scan at 9 weeks we told friends and family.  Most of them had started to guess already anyway!

Movement: None felt as it’s far too early but we saw our active little baby wriggling away with a nice strong heartbeat at our scan last week!

Food cravings: I’ve really fancied Bounty chocolate bars this week and also wanted lots of fruit and yoghurt.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I can’t drink tea and the smell of cheese and onion crisps makes me heave, which was the same when I was pregnant with Harry.

Have you started to show yet: I think my tummy looks rounder.  It was never flat, I’ll be honest, but it definitely has more of a ‘bump’ shape to it now.  I was surprised to notice my belly change so quickly this time but after speaking to other people apparently it’s really common to show earlier with your second pregnancy.

Gender prediction: I really can’t decide at the moment.  When I refer to baby I automatically say ‘he’ but my pregnancy has been so different this time maybe it is a girl…. I guess we will find out in 11 weeks time!

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On, last time I had to take my wedding ring off at around 34 weeks I think.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!

Weekly Wisdom: It’s ok to not be ok sometimes and ask for help.  I couldn’t have got through the past few weeks without Alistair and my mum making sacrifices to help me, they are amazing and were so glad to help when I needed them.  Now I’m on the other side of it I can see how important it was to accept that help and not suffer on my own.

Milestones: I took the last of my anti sickness medication on Thursday and as of yet still haven’t been sick or felt overly nauseous! Fingers crossed this is the end of my terrible sickness and that is the best milestone we could hope for!

Bump Pictures

I still can’t decide if this is bloat or bump but I’ll share it anyway!  Did you start to show earlier with your second pregnancy?  I’d love to hear people’s opinions and experiences!
